The grand myth of environmentalism is that it’s all about saving the Earth. It’s not. The Earth will be just fine. Environmentalism is all about saving ourselves.
Indeed, this is a great point and if you stop and think about it, yes, you are correct. Perhaps this is why I enjoyed Jared Diamond's book "Collapse" as it speaks to this as well. Happy Human Civilization Day to you too and thanks for making me think!

Olaf stapleson's "First and last men" is a wonderful example of how earth just keeps on going - although humanity does as well civilisation finds myriad ways of destroying itself from the expected to the tragic
