I think you're right that at some point we will have to come up with a system that allocates resources on the basis of something other than labor. But once we reach that point, what will keep humans from overpopulating? Right now, in industrialized societies, having kids makes you poorer. In the future we could have a guaranteed income for parents which could be increased at a diminishing rate for each additional child. Maybe. Who knows? In any case, two things we'd likely want to avoid are overpopulation and forced-sterilization.
