On October 6, 2005,  IEET Chair Nick Bostrom, IEET Executive Director James Hughes, and IEET Board member Giulio Prisco will address a three day conference on the future of technology in Europe, being held in Madrid October 5-7

“Nano-Bio-Info-Cogno (NBIC) Horizons”

“The future society enabled by the technologies foreseen for this century, all related to NBIC, will be the focus of this round table. Thinking on the economy, business and potential social
changes which may take place is the main objective of the talks and the expected debate. In particular we will examine transhumanism, always in a specific and pragmatic sense related to the benefits and threats that the great technology convergence of the 21th Century can present for humanity”

Presiding: Giulio Prisco, Board member of the “Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies”

In collaboration with: Asociación de Ingenieros de ICAI Scientific Committee (Relator): Eduardo Martínez, Editor of Tendencias21.

Speakers:
- James Hughes, Executive Director of the “Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies” (IEET) and Professor of Health Policy at the Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut;
- Nick Bostrom, Director of the “Future of Humanity Institute” of the Oxford University, and Chair of the IEET;
- Philippe van Nedervelde, European Director of the “Foresight Institute”;
- Adolfo Castilla Garrido, ICAI graduate and Professor of Applied Economy,
- Jose Cordeiro, President of the “Sociedad Mundial del Futuro de Venezuela”.
