Defining ourselves as TP, H+, or other

Posted: Jul 14, 2009

In a recently concluded poll, almost half (49%) of IEET readers identified themselves as Technoprogressive and Transhumanist, while 24% called themselves Transhumanist (H+) only, and 12% said Technoprogressive only.

These findings are important as we try to clarify the difference between these definitions and to distinguish the most effective idea space for the IEET to occupy.

For more background on these issues, see the IEET’s explanations of technoprogressive, transhumanist, and bioconservative, as well as “Technoprogressives and Transhumanists: What’s the difference?” and “Quick overview of biopolitical points of view.”

I missed the poll. Count me as Technoprogressive & Transhumanist. In view of past discussions, I find it refreshing to see that 73% of voters identify hemselves as Transhumanists.

I think it's good that there are at least 2 or 8 percent who are neither TP or H+. That helps this forum not become an echo chamber.

I choose "Other" and identified myself as a "Cyber-Communist". Cyber-Communist Manifesto http://www.imaginaryfutures.net/2007/04/18/by-richard-barbrook/

TP & H+ for me.
