The Washington Post’s Joel Garreau, a friend of the IEET, takes a look at an upcoming Star Wars-themed toy that uses new technology to allow the user to levitate an object…with their mind!
My first encounter with the concept of mind-controlled machines was the movie Blue Thunder, in 1983, with the mind-controlled helicopter. I thought it was awfully exciting, but still, just science fiction. But when I recently saw the thought-controlled DEKA prosthetic arm (youtube it), I thought of how amazing some of these hardworking visionaries are. Hopefully this fun toy will inspire more students to become engineers of this type.
